Yalla, do more!
From the heart of this U.S.-made hell. I am still here. With my whole body intact, head still attached, skin not yet burned, a half-full belly, a shattered heart, and a mind lost between confusion and despair. Uncomfortable. Unready Bracing for yet another day of massacres the hospital. And you? Are you still with me in this!
Everything drives us to madness. Everything We do, or think of, no matter how simple it seems, exhausts the body and mind. They have destroyed our ability to express ourselves, and left our survival to luck and coincidence.
We are not required to be rational by the standards of this world. At this point, we are not even expected to be sane; because what has happened to us goes far beyond the bounds of madness.
We are not actors in a televised drama, performing for a global audience that sees us as a scene; waiting for a tragic twist or a profound message to feel something.
We are not heroes. We are not more human than you. We are not invincible. We are not without limits. To the world, we have been nothing but victims, or perhaps, to some, we are nothing at all.
We are trapped in a place so dark, even the last flicker inside our souls has gone out. We are not just tired, we are extinguished, stuck between the faint hope of reigniting..or burning away entirely.
We are not obliged to scream, not even once more, asking for help. And we should not have to endure even one more loss.
We live on the edge of collapse; or perhaps we have already collapsed; carrying our pain like someone carrying an entire nation on their back, an entire nation on the brink of disappearance.
Why does injustice get to live a hundred lifetimes, while the oppressed are barely allowed one? Why is injustice sustained for ages, while the oppressed are denied even a scrap of bread when hungry?
Only one question should be asked of this world: Do you truly feel us? Do you understand what has happened to us; and what is still happening? Whether your answer is yes or no, this world, as it stands, is not a world that deserves us. And it is not the world we deserve. But if your answer is 'yes', then we know you have suffered with us; and for that, we thank you.
