Dr Muhannad
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital; Deir al-Balah, Gaza | May 17-18, 2025. This is what I experienced this time at my shift. SHARE it with your friends, your family.
One of the children I was treating begged me for water. At first, I feared it was a sign she'd lost too much blood. But then she told me she'd already been thirsty before she was injured; and I felt a strange sense of relief. But wait... what kind of cruel reassurance is that? A child, already starving and deprived of everything, had to be wounded on top of it all!
As always in Gaza, each new day proves worse than the one before. At this moment, Israeli forces are besieging the Indonesian Hospital, firing in all directions. Communication with the medical staff and patients inside has been completely cut off
The Israeli army launched a large-scale military operation, with a clear objective: to destroy everything, kill those who remain, or forcibly displace them.
Here at the hospital, we remain; holding on to hope, against all odds, for the sake of our people.
This is the CT imaging of my friend's brain, Dr. Muhannad, who was injured just today, and suffered a brain hemorrhage.
The intensive care unit was unbearably overcrowded. I was moving from one patient to another, unable to find even a place to set my feet, let alone examine anyone properly. Most of the injured were lying on the floor.
I was doing my best to save a child who was bleeding heavily from an artery in his thigh and also suffering from a pneumothorax.
Everyone was bleeding. Everyone was screaming. It felt like the end of the world.
I had no idea Muhannad was there all along: until another friend told me.
I looked at the bed and saw him lying there, eyes closed, his head bandaged.
I lived through hell before I knew my friend was among the wounded; and through another hell once l found out!
Over a year ago, Muhannad lost his entire family in an indiscriminate airstrike that obliterated their home. He survived his wounds.
Since that day, he never stopped working at the European Hospital; serving others with quiet| strength, despite the deep scars he carried. Today, he was injured again, when a group of civilians was randomly targeted.
still, I believe Muhannad will recover from his brain injury. And I believe he will live to see the day when true justice, is served upon those who turned our lives into hell
After committing several massacres today, they've just targeted two houses near the hospital with helicopter-launched missiles. Reports are speaking of injuries and martyrs. And after a long, painful day, here we are again, preparing to receive the wounded. Ican still hear the deafening sound of missiles raining down on us.
The Israeli Knesset shamelessly says: "The world has become used to seeing the scenes in Gaza.
So it makes no difference if we kill 100 or 500 today.
Nothing will change.
The war will continue, and we will exterminate the people of Gaza one by one.
Because the world has nothing but statements, and we face no obstacle in wiping out an entire people in front of everyone."
Over 2.4 milion people in Gaza are facing genocide and ethnic cleansing. 590 days since the start of the genocide.
12,000+ massacres committed by Israeli forces.
Over 62,000 killed or missing. 10,000+ missing, including many still under rubble.
Gaza Ministry of Health Press Release: European Gaza Hospital is out of service after direct attacks.
Other hospitals like indonesian, Nasser, Al-Aqsa Martyrs, and Baptist Hospital have all been bombed. After the rest had already been destroyed or rendered inoperable.
In just 48 hours, Israel displaced over 300,000 people from northern Gaza, killed more than 200 civilians, and destroyed 1,000 housing units.
50 days since bakeries were shut down. 80 days of closed crossings, blocking thousands of aid trucks.
Israeli army spokesperson statement (brief): "We are entering a new phase of combat. We aim to expand operational control in Gaza by dividing the territory and displacing the population in all active areas.
We've applied lessons from previous battles. Currently, five military divisions are operating inside Gaza."
"Silence in the face of this systematic ethnic cleansing and genocide is a green light for continued mass killing.
We condemn these crimes and hold the Israeli occupation, along with countries involved in the genocide; such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France; fully responsible for this ethnic cleansing. We also hold the international community morally and humanly accountable for its failure or complicity."
If the world had exhausted itself for just one fucking day; the way my colleagues and I have for hundreds, including today: just to save the innocent, thousands of lives could have been spared. One fucking day. That's all it would've taken.
