We need your help
This is what my ride home from work looked like after yet another horrible shift
My first stop was the mall, where I chose what we'll be giving tomorrow to the 20 students and teachers at the Qur'an memorization camp.
Then I went to speak with the carpenter:. I asked him to prepare a sample of a school desk so we could calculate the cost of making desks for every student in the school, perhaps even for two schools, if we're fortunate.
After that, I passed by the man we had given a sewing machine to. He was busy sewing clothing.
Before finally making it home, I passed by the print shop, where someone was making 84 free grave markers for the martyrs in our area.
And then I found myself lying in my bed. My mother brought me a cup of coffee as I wrote this, and told me lunch would be ready in half an hour.
l am exhausted, but grateful.
Having coffee with a friend. Mum just called to check if I was safe. There have been random quadcopters shootings and nearby artillery shells.
Is it possible that anyone, anywhere in the world, could be subjected to random gunfire while simply sitting somewhere enjoying a cup of coffee?
Are we still trying to comprehend what has already happened, or are we preparing ourselves for what is yet to come?
I'm not saying this to make anyone feel guilty. I'm saying it to share the reality we are living through.
What has already happened is almost beyond comprehension. What lies ahead demands minds that have not yet been blown apart by the endless supply of weapons to a brutal occupation backed by a colonial, imperial power. It also demands the humanity of everyone witnessing all of this.
As I share this, I'm standing by my window, surrounded by the terrifying sounds of bullets and drones. I'm deeply anxious.
We're very close to reaching our final goal. Everything you give this time will go directly toward making school desks for students.
